Rear wheel conversion kits replace your back wheel with a hub motor built into an MTX double-wall rim. The motor drives the wheel directly, so these kits carry the higher power levels: 500W and 750W for hills and heavier riders, 1000W to 2600W for fast private-land riding, and 3000W to 4000W for extreme off-road. Everything above 250W is for private land in the UK, not public roads.
Will it fit? You need a 135 mm or 142 mm rear dropout (check your frame; our 135 vs 142 mm guide shows how), a steel or aluminium frame, a disc-brake mount, and a 7-speed freewheel or the cassette option listed on the product. Wheel sizes run from 20" to 29" and 700C. Fat-bike wheels are in the fat tyre collection.
Which power? Start with our wattage and speed guide, then match the battery with the battery matching guide. Every rear kit above 1000W should be fitted with the included torque arm.
